Installation

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place base unit on a stable, central surface.

  1. Charge the handset: Insert battery into handset, place on base unit charger for 7 hours before first use.
  2. Connect telephone line: Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the base, and the other end into your wall telephone jack.
  3. Connect power: Plug the AC power adapter into the DC IN 9V jack on the base and into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install additional handsets: Place on their chargers and allow to charge fully.

WARNING! Use only the provided Panasonic power adapter and battery. Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery.

First-Time Setup

After charging, the handset will beep and display "Welcome". Follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Set Date and Time: Use the MENU button to access settings. Navigate to "Set Date/Time" and enter current information.
  2. Register Handsets: Additional handsets usually register automatically when placed on their charger. If not, press and hold the PAGE button on the base for about 5 seconds until the handset beeps.
  3. Set Area Code: For proper Caller ID, set your local area code in the menu under "Caller ID Setup".
  4. Set Answering Machine: Choose answering mode (Answer Only, Toll Saver, etc.) and record your outgoing announcement.

CAUTION! Ensure the base unit is not placed near other electronic devices (microwaves, routers) to prevent interference.

Connecting Devices

  3. If using with a DSL internet service, a DSL filter must be installed on the line before the phone.

Tip: For best performance, plug the base unit power adapter directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip.

Using the Answering Machine

The digital answering machine is integrated into the base unit but can be controlled from any handset.

  1. Record Outgoing Announcement: Press and hold the RECORD button on the base until you hear a beep. Speak clearly into the base microphone. Press RECORD again to stop.
  2. Play Messages: Press the PLAY/STOP button on the base, or from a handset, press MENU, select "Answering System", then "Play Messages".
  3. Remote Playback: Call your number from an outside phone. When the announcement plays, enter your remote access code (default is 1111) followed by # to play messages.
  4. Delete Messages: During playback, press the DELETE button on the handset or the base to erase the current message.

WARNING! Do not place the base unit in a confined space where the speaker or microphone is blocked.

Accessibility Features

Ringer Volume/Melody: Adjustable per handset. Can be set to a loud, distinct melody or a flashing light. Silent Mode: Can turn off all ringers while keeping the answering machine active. Large, backlit keys and display aid in visibility.

Care & Cleaning
