Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place base unit on stable surface.

  1. Charge handset: Connect AC adapter to base, plug into outlet. Place handset on base for 7 hours initial charge.
  2. Connect telephone line: Plug line cord into base TEL LINE jack, then into wall telephone jack.
  3. Install battery: Insert battery pack into handset, align contacts, close cover.
  4. Set date/time: Handset will prompt after battery installation.

WARNING! Use only supplied Panasonic AC adapter and battery. Do not disassemble or short-circuit battery.

First-Time Setup

After installation, configure basic settings.

  1. Set language: Press MENU, select SETTINGS, then LANGUAGE (English/Spanish/French).
  2. Register handset: Handset should auto-register. If not, press and hold PAGE on base until IN USE light flashes, then press # on handset.
  3. Set answering machine: Press ANS ON/OFF on base to turn on. Record outgoing message by pressing MEMO/OGM.
  4. Program phonebook: Press MENU, select PHONEBOOK, then ADD ENTRY.

Telephone line: Standard RJ11 jack. Headset: 2.5mm jack on handset (optional). Additional handsets: Purchase KX-TGA413 expansion handsets.

  1. Ensure base unit is powered off before connecting telephone line.
  2. Plug headset into handset jack for hands-free use.
  3. Register additional handsets: Place new handset on charger, press and hold PAGE on base, then press # on handset.

Tip: Use surge protector for telephone line to prevent damage from power surges.

Using the Answering Machine

Digital answering system with remote access.

  1. Turn on/off: Press ANS ON/OFF on base.
  2. Record outgoing message: Press and hold MEMO/OGM, speak after beep, release when done.
  3. Play messages: Press PLAY/SKIP on base or dial remotely from outside phone.
  4. Skip/delete: Press SKIP to skip message; DELETE to erase during playback.
  5. Remote access: Dial your number, after outgoing message press * and enter remote code (default 0000).
  6. Change number of rings: Press MENU on handset, select ANSWERING, then RINGS.

WARNING! Do not disconnect power or telephone line during recording to avoid memory loss.
