Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place base unit on a stable, central surface.

  1. Charge the handset: Connect the AC adapter to the base and plug into an outlet. Place handset on base to charge for at least 7 hours before first use.
  2. Connect telephone lines: Plug one end of the telephone line cord(s) into the LINE 1 (and LINE 2) jack(s) on the base. Connect the other end(s) to your wall jack(s).
  3. Install battery: Insert the supplied battery pack into the handset, matching polarity.
  4. Power on: Ensure the base unit is powered. The handset will beep when properly seated on the charger.

WARNING! Use only the supplied Panasonic AC adapter and battery. Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery.

First-Time Setup

After installation, power on the system and follow initial configuration.

  1. Set date and time: Press MENU on the handset, navigate to SETTINGS > DATE & TIME, and enter the current information.
  2. Set language: In the SETTINGS menu, select LANGUAGE and choose ENGLISH (default).
  3. Register handsets: If using additional handsets, place them on the charger and press the PAGE button on the base for 5 seconds to enter registration mode.

Using the Answering Machine

The digital answering machine records messages when you are unavailable.

  1. Set up: Press MENU > ANSWERING MACHINE > SETUP to record your outgoing message (OGM) and set the number of rings (2, 3, 4, or Toll Saver).
  2. Play messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the base or MENU > ANSWERING MACHINE > PLAY MESSAGES on the handset.
  3. Remote retrieval: Call your number from an outside phone, press * during your OGM, and enter your remote access code (default is 555).
  4. Delete messages: Press DELETE on the base during playback or use the menu option on the handset.

WARNING! Do not place the base unit in a confined space where ventilation is poor.
